Amazon and Eneco team up for supply of sustainable energy

As a co-founder of The Climate Pledge, Amazon is committed to be net zero carbon across its business by 2040, 10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement. To this end, Amazon and Eneco reached agreement for renewable wind energy generated by the Dutch subsidy-free offshore wind farm Hollandse Kust Noord.

The agreement between Amazon and Eneco relates to 130 MW of installed renewable capacity and continues Amazon’s path to power its operations with 100% renewable energy by 2025. An ambition to which Eneco is pleased to contribute.

The renewable energy will be generated by Hollandse Kust Noord, a wind farm that is being constructed 18.5 kilometres off the Dutch coast. CrossWind, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco, is currently working on installing the 69 wind turbines with a total capacity of 759 MW. The wind farm is scheduled to become operational in 2023 and will generate at least 3.3 TWh per year.
