RES to complete its first repowering in collaboration with the French wind turbine manufacturer POMALeitwind
RES is pleased to announce this will be completed in collaboration with POMALeitwind. Following a merger between POMA and LEITWIND, RES has selected the world leader in cable transport and specialist in onshore wind turbines to supply the first multi-megawatt onshore wind turbines to be assembled in France.
Located in the Aude county in southern France, the Souleilla-Corbières wind farm is made up of 16 turbines with an installed capacity of 20.8 MW. Since it was commissioned in 2001, it has been providing clean electricity for 27 000 people every year and reduces CO2 annual emissions by 30,600 tonnes. In the 17 years it has been functioning, that’s over half a million tonnes of CO2.
The RES owned project, nominated at the CRE-2 onshore wind tender, will now enter the development phase whilst continuing to export renewable power to the grid.
RES provides renewable energy services adapted to global needs and aims to continue to optimise its wind farms, thanks to repowering. This new type of operation shows that RES is prepared and capable of meeting the growing needs for renewing and repowering wind farms.
Matthieu Guérard, Managing Director of RES in France declared “This innovative project will once again highlight RES’ capacity to develop wind and solar projects with energy prices amongst the most competitive in the market”.
Matthieu Tusch, Wind project manager at RES added "It also gives us great satisfaction, through this pioneering project, to participate in POMALeitwind’s industrial ambition to manufacture wind turbines in France. POMA has been able to offer us the best solution for our first repowering project, proposing a wind turbine perfectly adapted to this site".
For Denis BAUD-LAVIGNE, Commercial Development Director at POMALeitwind "POMALeitwind is proud to participate in this repowering project alongside a major player in the French wind industry. This partnership will help promote French expertise and industrial capacities, including the installation of turbines which will be produced at our production site in Gilly sur Isère (73), inaugurated in January 2018 by the Prime Minister Edouard Philippe".
