Wind Industry Profile of

Siemens Gamesa will maintain the Scottish wind farm Ardoch and Over Enoch until 2034

This new contract, signed with the Irish renewable energy company NTR plc, encompasses an extension of a further ten years beyond the existing wind farm service and maintenance contract / The extension is awarded just three years into the initial 10-year service contract

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has signed a new contract with the renewable energy company, NTR plc, to extend the service and maintenance contract of the Ardoch and Over Enoch wind farm, located in Scotland, for another ten years until 2034.

At present, Siemens Gamesa maintains the five turbines on the site, located in East Renfrewshire, just south of Glasgow in Scotland, as part of a 10-year contract awarded when the wind farm first became operational in 2014.

The five-turbine site has a generating capacity of 11.5 MW, sufficient to power around 8,000 homes. The turbines are SWT-2.3-93 units with a maximum tip height of 110 meters. The Ardoch and Over Enoch site is situated adjacent to the Whitelee wind project, the UK's largest onshore wind farm that is also maintained by Siemens Gamesa.

CEO of Siemens Gamesa Service Northern Europe/Middle East, Grant Walker says, "We are delighted that Ardoch and Over Enoch owners NTR have, so soon after awarding the original service contract, given Siemens Gamesa a vote of confidence in the quality of our service and awarded a further ten-year extension. This long-term commitment to working together is one of the reasons that onshore wind energy remains the cheapest form of large-scale energy generation. This will help deliver clean energy for decades to come."

NTR Asset Management Director, Joe Dalton says, "NTR PLC optimises long-term returns from our assets on behalf of all our investors. We have successfully completed the refinancing of Ardoch and Over Enoch and are delighted to partner with Siemens Gamesa for the long term on the project, based on their performance to-date, and the high levels of trust we have built up with the local team. We look forward to continued high performance from this project over the coming years."

The contract extension will run beyond 2030, the point at which the UK government set an ambitious target in the fifth carbon budget, to have reduced carbon emissions by 57% on 1990 levels.
