USTDA Supports Renewable Wind Energy in Vietnam Through U.S. Solutions
PECC2 selected DVN KEMA Renewables, Inc. (Seattle, WA) to carry out the project design and feasibility study. DNV KEMA is a consulting and engineering company with significant expertise in renewable energy, particularly offshore wind and including direct experience with offshore wind in Vietnam.
PECC2 is developing the 100 MW Tan Thuan Nearshore Wind Power Plant in southern Vietnam in two phases, with the first phase planned to be 24 MW, and the second phase anticipated to be an additional 76 MW. The wind farm will be near-shore, located in Ca Mau province in southern Vietnam, an area notable for having the highest average wind speed nationwide.
“USTDA is pleased to support this project which will help capitalize on southern Vietnam’s strong wind resources and support the country’s prioritization of renewable energy,” said USTDA Country Manager David Ross. “This project represents an excellent opportunity for U.S. businesses to export technologies and services in support of Vietnam’s renewable energy goals.”
“As Vietnam’s energy demands grow, the U.S. is helping spread renewable energy in the Mekong River Delta. This project has the potential to bring clean energy to the Mekong River Delta and introduce U.S. wind power technologies to Vietnam,” said U.S. Consul General Mary Tarnowka.
The grant was signed at a ceremony in PECC2’s office in Ho Chi Minh City by U.S. Consul General Mary Tarnowka and PECC2 Chairman & CEO Nguyen Chon Hung.
