Siemens Gamesa and Windkauf sign sales-agreement: Focus on German, Austrian and Swiss markets

Wind buying syndicate to distribute Siemens Gamesa’s direct-drive technology / Agreed volume of 20 to 30 wind turbines within two years / Projects in German auction market and customers in Austria and Switzerland

New customers in focus: Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has sealed another sales partnership at the Husum Wind 2017 trade show: The Kassel-based Windenergie Einkaufsgemeinschaft Windkauf GmbH has signed a framework agreement for the distribution of wind turbines in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With this contract Siemens Gamesa is expanding its clientele with operators of smaller wind projects. For Windkauf the contract allows access to cutting edge technology under clear conditions in the context of the auction model in the German wind market: the buying syndicate plans to order 20 to 30 wind turbines in the coming two years for wind projects with up to five units. The best LCoE of the Siemens Gamesa technology will help the customers of Windkauf to successfully place their projects in the auctions. In addition the agreement will also help to apply the gearless turbines in Austria and Switzerland.

Since 2015 Windkauf has supported operators and project offices as well as community wind farms on their way to successful wind projects. The company analyzes the specific technology demand of any individual project and conveys components, turbines and services from leading suppliers. In this process, customers of Windkauf benefit from pre-negotiated conditions and bundled order pipelines. The increasing cost-sensitivity of the auction-based market environment makes highly efficient turbines with optimized energy yields a crucial factor. With Siemens Gamesa direct-drive wind turbines Windkauf widens its scope by adding cutting edge technology. The model SWT-DD-130 will be offered with tower-configurations for hub heights of 135 and 165 meters. With the SWT-DD-142 hub heights of 129 and 165 meters can be ordered. Siemens Gamesa’s scope includes delivery, installation and commissioning. Maintenance will also be covered by service contracts with the turbine supplier.

“This framework agreement allows us to offer our customer the highly efficient Siemens Gamesa wind turbines at economic terms of delivery and service,” said Georg Persigehl, director of Windkauf. “This creates perfect starting conditions for our customers to successfully face the challenges of the upcoming wind-auction-rounds of the Federal Network Agency. Furthermore we are pleased to make the gearless technology more attractive for smaller projects in Austria and Switzerland.”

“In a changing onshore market environment scalable wind turbines that can perfectly be adapted to the site-specific needs and clear investment costs play an increasing role,” said Gunnar Liehr, Head of Siemens Gamesa’s onshore business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “We are excited to break new ground in sales for smaller wind projects. Windkauf as a highly experienced partner in the targeted customer segment and will help smaller wind farms with our products to suceed.”
