Invenergy to Provide Wind Energy to Kimberly-Clark

Invenergy, North America’s largest privately-held renewable energy company, today announced that it has signed a 125-megawatt wind power purchase agreement (PPA) with Kimberly-Clark. The deal will support Kimberly-Clark’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from operations while improving energy efficiency and cost savings. Since 2015, Invenergy has contracted to sell more off-site renewable energy to corporate customers in the U.S. than any other independent supplier in the industry.

The agreement includes the sale of power from the Santa Rita Wind Energy Center located in Texas. Invenergy will provide Kimberly-Clark with 125 megawatts of capacity, resulting in more than 525,000 megawatt-hours of renewable energy annually delivered into the ERCOT power market, the regional electricity grid for Texas.

Since 2015, Invenergy has executed six PPAs with corporate customers, providing renewable energy to support their ambitious corporate sustainability goals. Those agreements, along with the PPA with Kimberly-Clark, bring Invenergy’s total corporate customer portfolio to 795 megawatts.

Santa Rita Wind Energy Center is located approximately 70 miles west of San Angelo, Texas. The 300 megawatt facility will consist of 120 General Electric 2.5 megawatt wind turbines. The project will create more than 300 construction jobs and up to 15 full-time, permanent jobs. Santa Rita will generate more than $100 million in local economic development in its first 20 years of operation through tax payments, lease payments to participating landowners, and wages and benefits for employees. Commercial operation is expected to commence in the first quarter of next year.
