Hutchinson First Load-out at the New Garston Dock Facility
Last Thursday the MV Ingeborg set sail to Denmark with 7 sets of Root & Tip Blade frames ordered for the MHI Vestas V164 Turbine Blade global deployment programme.
These 6m x 4m units weighing up to 25te were fabricated, finally assembled with components also manufactured at the nearby Widnes plant. The Project included on site shot blast and painting at Hutchinson’s new quayside facility alongside Garston Dock on the River Mersey.
This was the first load out from Hutchinson’s new facility only metres from the heavy duty quay which augments their current renewable capability with direct large item delivery now possible.
Commenting on this successful completion, Mr. Dean Drinkwater, Managing Director, stated, “This project is the first of many larger fabrications for our clients. This is now our fourth order from MHI Vestas and largest to date …..we can now offer our customers a full service from one of our four production facilities …our continued investment and collaboration with ABP & Armitt at Garston will bring much needed employment opportunities to the area and increased export potential from the Merseyside area.“
Derek Twigg, MP for Halton added “I am delighted to hear the news that Hutchinson Engineering Ltd has sent out its first load of 7 sets of Root & Tip Blade frames for its customer MHI Vestas in Denmark. I want to see British companies exporting British made products abroad, it is especially pleasing that it is a Halton manufacturing company having this success. Manufacturing is so important to both the local and UK economy, it is good to see Hutchinson Engineering Ltd making an important contribution and employing local people. I congratulate the company on its success.”
