Enel Green Power acquires two wind farms in Campania from Amec Foster Wheeler

Enel Green Power has completed the acquisition of 100% of Amec Foster Wheeler Power from Amec Foster Wheeler Italiana, owner of two wind farms in Italy’s southern region of Campania with a total installed capacity of 54.5 MW.

The two plants, which generate approximately 90 GWh per year, are located in the municipalities of Vallesaccarda (22.5 MW) and Scampitella (32 MW), in the province of Avellino and they have been in operation since 2006 and 2008 respectively. The 54.5 MW of the plants acquired by Enel Green Power add to the approximately 718 MW of installed wind capacity currently operated by the company in Italy.

Enel Green Power and Amec Foster Wheeler Italiana signed a preliminary sale agreement in December 2016 before closing the transaction. Enel Green Power paid around 21 million euros for the acquisition.

With an installed capacity in Italy of more than 14 GW, Enel Green Power is the leader in all renewable technologies: geothermal, hydropower, wind, solar and biomass. In the coming years it plans to increase its total installed capacity, consolidating its position and further developing its presence in the country. The company boasts a long tradition in hydropower throughout the country, with a total installed capacity of over 12 GW, plus 33 geothermal plants located in Tuscany with a capacity of 761 MW, able to generate more than 5 TWh of power per year. “Made in Italy” geothermal technology, developed in the Tuscany’s Larderello area, is exported by Enel Green Power worldwide. In the wind power field, the company currently operates approximately 772 MW, while in the solar field, EGP operates 23 MW directly and 360 MW through the joint venture EF Solare Italia. Enel Green Power has driven the development of the renewable energy sector in Italy by expanding the installed base and forging strategic partnerships with the world’s technology leaders in the sector.
