Wind Industry Profile of
WKN sells wind farm Kirchengel to a group of investors
WKN AG, a leading developer of wind energy farms based in Husum, Germany, completely sold the Thuringian wind energy project to Centraplan GmbH as well as some private investors being consulted by the Swiss specialist for renewable energies, re:cap global investors ag. Two of the three Vestas V112 wind energy turbines with a capacity of each 3.3 megawatts were already sold at the end of 2016 while the third turbine has now been sold to the group of investors.
Construction works for the wind farm with a total capacity of 9.9 megawatts have already started. The turbines with a hub height of 140 metres are located close to the WKN wind farm Westerengel that had been commissioned already in 2016. Commissioning of all three Kirchengel turbines is planned for summer 2017. WKN will be responsible as EPC contractor and will also take over the technical and commercial management of the wind farm after commissioning within the company group. Approval of the complete wind farm had been submitted at the end of 2016.
„For WKN, the wind farm means a further acknowledgement of our work in Thuringia“, explains WKN-Chief Operative Officer (COO) Roland Stanze. In addition to its international subsidiaries WKN AG being part of the PNE WIND Group is operating a local office in the Thuringian city of Bad Langensalza. In 2016, WKN received the label “Fair Wind Energy” from the wind energy service unit of Thüringer Energie- und GreenTech-Agentur (ThEGA). Stanze: „For us Thuringia is a very important federal state where we also want to reach more participation of citizens creating higher value for the locals.“
