DONG Energy expands its German wind power location in Norden-Norddeich

Since the Danish offshore planner is still active intensively on the German market, the decision was made to expand the port location in Norden-Norddeich on the north seacoast of Lower Saxony.

A further building complex will be built on the 30,000 m² site next to the water, which will include an expansion of the company management center. Volker Malmen, German CEO of DONG Energy and responsible for the offshore wind sector, stated in the media: "Norddeich has been our port location for all German offshore wind farms that we are building in the North Sea since 2013. From here, we not only supervise the construction but also carry out the service and maintenance of our wind parks. Therefore, it is extremely important for us that the site will continue to grow with our offshore activities".

In addition, the Danes will invest in a hotel vessel, from which the technicians are to operate in the future to be more independent of the tide in the Norddeicher Hafen. So far, the ships were only able to sail at high tide.

The Norddeich Airport also benefits from the investment decision, as DONG is expanding the helicopter hangar on site and also transports technicians with the helicopter exclusively from Norddeich. The location in Emden is thus eliminated. DONG promises no noise pollution by the helicopters, which are to rise immediately at appropriate heights and not to fly over an inhabited area.
