Germany: seebaWIND becomes Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service

In doing so, the company, which has belonged to Deutsche Windtechnik AG since June 2015, announces its full affiliation to the leading independent provider of wind technology. The prefix ‘X’ highlights the technical focus of the new business unit at the same time. This includes the Nordex range and Senvion systems, from the MD/MM systems to the 3.XM and 5M series, as well as continuing the Fuhrländer systems including the FL2500. The renaming does not entail any structural changes: the CEOs Holger Hämel and Severin Mielimonka, the employees, the head office in Osnabrück and all service stations remain unchanged.

The ‘X-Focus’ is juxtaposed with the turbine focus of Deutsche Windtechnik Service GmbH which has been offering full servicing for machines manufactured by Vestas, NEG Micon and Siemens/An Bonus under the auspices of Deutsche Windtechnik since 2007. Management board member Matthias Brandt says: “Under the name Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service, seebaWIND has now become fully incorporated into Deutsche Windtechnik. Like all units, it is specialises in competence, economic potential, purchasing conditions, remote monitoring, SCADA, contract management or the marketing of the entire Deutsche Windtechnik, for example, and also makes a contribution to these areas.” The unit’s individuality has, however, been deliberately retained: “In line with our identity as a medium-sized company, we allow ourselves autonomy where it makes sense. In this case, this relates to system technologies and various established processes. Customers are thus given full transparency in the supervision of their wind farms,” Matthias Brandt explains.

Systems technology creates identity

The CEOs of Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service, Holger Hämel and Severin Mielimonka, see the change of name as a logical consequence of the new affiliation: “Even though we enjoyed some excellent years since forming seebaWIND, the name refers to the previous ownership structures and is outdated. The core of our identity does not lie in our name but in our special turbine expertise. As part of Deutsche Windtechnik, we are in an even stronger position and are able to continue to develop at many levels in an interdisciplinary context, be it onshore, offshore and internationally, in mutual exchange with our new colleagues!” they both agree.

Growth and new challenges in 2016

Thus Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service will take over responsibility of new maintenance tasks at other wind farms for the 2MW Senvion series (MM82, MM92, MM100 and the vanguard of the 3.XM series) and gain a foothold in the N117 systems technology from the manufacturer Nordex. “In 2015, we were able to conclude contracts for the first systems from the MM series. In 2016, four to five other wind farms with this investment focus will follow,” Holger Hämel clarifies. In so doing, he provides insight into the future direction within Germany, which goes hand in hand with an expansion of the service network, in southern Germany in particular. ‘The X-Service’ can also expect exciting new challenges both internationally and offshore in 2016: these include, for example, maintenance tasks in France or at the offshore wind farm Nordergründe.

The focus of its systems technology is on machinery manufactured by Vestas/NEG Micon and Siemens/An Bonus. The company works both onshore and offshore. The transaction of seebaWIND Service GmbH provides Deutsche Windtechnik AG with an expansion of its turbine competence and an even stronger foundation overall for further growth in the international onshore and offshore service markets. The merger sees the Deutsche Windtechnik workforce increase to 700.
