Adam Oxley, the Control Centre’s Team Leader from RWE Innogy UK said, “We have a really experienced team here. Last year alone we monitored approximately 570 individual turbines across 34 sites in the UK. That includes offshore and onshore and this year we are actively exploring expanding that experience into further wind and solar farms.

“Our role is to monitor our renewable energy facilities and ensure the smooth running of the machines. This could be by providing release of plant in accordance with Wind Turbine Safety Rules, issuing severe weather warnings, curtailing sites, or SCADA solutions. We also provide controlled site access and egress which accounts for an individual’s safety.”

Health and safety is number one on the agenda for the Wind Control Centre which proud of its track record. Since 2011, RWE Innogy UK has consistently received the Gold accolade in the ROSPA Occupational Health and Safety awards.
