Wind Industry Profile of

US: Enel Green Power adds new wind capacity to its operations

The Osage Wind farm, with a total installed capacity of 150 MW, is able to generate more than 620 GWh a year

Enel Green Power S.p.A., through its subsidiary Enel Green Power North America, Inc., has completed and connected to the grid the Osage Wind farm located in Osage County, Oklahoma.

The new plant has a total installed capacity of 150 MW and is owned by Osage Wind, LLC, 50% owned by EGP-NA. The wind farm will generate more than 620 GWh of electricity a year, equivalent to the annual energy consumption needs of more than 53,000 U.S. households, while avoiding the emission of about 300,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

The entry into operation of the Osage Wind farm further confirms Enel Green Power’s commitment to its continued growth in the U.S. renewable market, particularly in Oklahoma where EGP-NA already operates the 235 MW Chisholm View wind farm, the 150 MW Rocky Ridge wind farm and the 150 MW Origin wind farm. The company also has two additional wind projects currently under construction in Oklahoma for a total additional capacity of 274 MW expected to be online by the end of 2015.

Enel Green Power is the Enel Group company fully dedicated to the international development and management of renewable energy sources, with operations in Europe, the Americas and Africa. With a generation capacity equal to approximately 32 billion kWh in 2014 from water, sun, wind and the Earth’s heat – enough to meet the energy needs of more than 11 million households – Enel Green Power is a world leader in the sector thanks to its well-balanced generation mix that provides generation volumes well over the sector average. As of today, the company has an installed capacity of more than 9,800 MW from a mix of sources including wind, solar, hydropower, geothermal and biomass. The company has about 740 plants operating in 15 countries.

Enel Green Power in USA - Enel Green Power operates in North America through Enel Green Power North America, Inc. (EGP-NA), which owns and operates over 90 plants in 21 U.S. States and two Canadian provinces. As of today, the company has a total installed capacity of more than 2,000 MW. Such a capacity base is diversified across four generation technologies, namely wind, geothermal, solar and hydro.
