GE delivers 10 1.6-103 wind turbines to Marsh Hill Wind Energy Center in New York

“We’re delighted to host Invenergy’s Marsh Hill wind farm”

Invenergy has announced that its 16.2 MW Marsh Hill Wind Energy Center is now online. Located in Jasper, N.Y., Marsh Hill consists of 10 GE 1.6-103 wind turbines.

“We’re delighted to host Invenergy’s Marsh Hill wind farm,” says Jasper Town Supervisor Lucille Kernan. “The project is a large investment in Jasper, and the long-term payments it will be making to the Town will enable us to keep taxes low. That’s a huge help to our citizens, including retirees and local farmers.”

Through a competitive process, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority awarded a contract to Marsh Hill to produce and deliver renewable electricity to New York. The funding was made available through the state’s renewable portfolio standard (RPS). NYSERDA has committed to purchase 95% of the RPS attributes (or renewable energy credits) generated with each megawatt-hour produced from the wind farm for 10 years. Electricity produced by Marsh Hill is sold into the wholesale markets managed by the New York Independent System Operator.

Tetra Tech Construction of Gloversville served as the project’s general contractor, and O’Connell Electric built the facility’s substation.

Invenergy notes that it has two other wind farms in New York: The 112.5 MW Sheldon project started operation in 2009, and the 94 MW Orangeville project became operational earlier this year.
