Energiequelle takes over operational management of two Senvion 6.2M 126 wind turbines

The WTGs are among the most powerful wind turbines in the world

Energiequelle GmbH can now add two more colossal wind turbines to its operational management portfolio. The Senvion 6.2M 126 turbines in question are currently being installed in Handewitt in Schleswig-Holstein and are scheduled to start producing electricity before July is over. The respective agreements were concluded in mid-June with the operator company owned by the investment fund FP Lux Investment S.A. SICAV-SIF – Wind Infrastructure I, represented by its investment consultant re:cap global investors ag.

Since 2009, the Senvion 6.2M 126 has achieved an excellent track record for both offshore and onshore deployment. Its 126 m rotor diameter and 6.15 MW generator make it one of the most powerful wind turbines in the world. The two new WTGs now being installed to the west of Flensburg have a hub height of 117 m. Connection to the grid is via a newly constructed substation near Haurup, the operational management of which Energiequelle has likewise acquired.
The two new Senvion turbines are numbers two and three in Energiequelle’s portfolio of WTGs in the biggest size category. Since 2012, the Zossen-based renewables enterprise has been handling the technical management of an E 126 producing 7.5 MW (hub height 135 m), which the company jointly installed with the maker, Enercon, alongside the Lausitzring race track in Brandenburg.

The present arrangement extends the partnership already in place between re:cap and Energiequelle. More than a year ago, Energiequelle signed a technical management agreement for a 10 MW solar farm in Niedergörsdorf, Brandenburg, with another special-purpose company belonging to the solar fund Solar Infrastructure I.

Thomas Seibel, the CEO of re:cap, explained the rationale behind extending the partnership by saying, “In the first year of operating the solar farm, our experience working with Energiequelle and with the services it provided was excellent. Energiequelle is also a technologically very experienced and reliable partner in the wind energy field as well, and we were also impressed by its very strong customer focus. Special mention should be made of the incredible dedication and commitment shown by its staff during these very first weeks of bringing the Handewitt wind farm online.”

Senvion SE, formerly REpower Systems, is a German maker of wind turbines. Its majority shareholder is the Suzlon Group in India.
