Mersen wins a contract with Siemens to equip its latest generation of wind turbine

The deal is worth around €2.4 million and deliveries will take place during 2014.

Mersen (Euronext FR0000039620 – MRN), a global expert in materials and equipment for extreme environments and for the safety and reliability of electrical equipment, is announcing that it has won a contract with Siemens Wind Power for the SICS (Siemens Integrated Control System) project. The deal is worth around €2.4 million and deliveries will take place during 2014. It will cover requirements for some 600 to 700 wind turbines representing a capacity of 2.1 GW.

The contract is to supply coolers, busbars and fuses comprising Mersen’s power electronics bundle offer. These items will be integrated in the new control systems for Siemens’ latest generation of wind turbines of over 2MW. The system should spread across Siemens’ entire wind turbine program.

Thanks to its multi-product range, Mersen has a history of working together very closely with Siemens. The Group won this contract owing to its specialized power electronics teams, who cooperate closely with Siemens on developing products meeting their objectives for system performance. At the same time, Mersen has a global manufacturing and sales base, which provided a crucial advantage enabling it to work very closely alongside the project participants. This includes negotiating and signing the contract in Denmark, design work in the UK and delivery for assembly in Germany.

This contract represents a further boost to Mersen’s credentials as a key player in the power electronics market.
