This week: DBK David + Baader GmbH – 10 years of Cirrus Fan Heater Units

Owing to their compact design, operation safety and long-lasting performance, the Cirrus fan heaters came into use in wind energy plants in the following years.
The core of the Cirrus unit is the PTC ceramic with its self-regulating temperature. This given temperature limitation ensures a high reliability. The intrinsic safety prevents overheating of surrounding components in case of a failure and thus a possible fire hazard. UL and VDE approvals confirm this safety feature.
Meanwhile there are 4 different Cirrus families with power ratings from 5 to 1200 W.
The Cirrus 80, mostly used in wind energy plants, comes with a power rating of 300 – 1200 W and a size of only 82 x 110 mm. Thanks to the high power to size ratio, this heater has a weight of only 0,785 kg.
Cirrus 25, 40 and 60 are the right choice for more local heating with lower power requirements.
“Nobody would have expected this success story 10 years ago, when our product portfolio was extended by the PTC fan heaters”, says the Manager of the Industrial Heating Division, Mr. Norbert Buchlaub. Meanwhile approx. 10.000 Cirrus units per year are supplied to manufacturers of wind energy plants or subsuppliers to the wind energy industry. Each year one or the other new development project is started, benefiting from the technology and years of experience and know-how for custom made solutions in this field.
