Argentina - Wind energy Vestas inaugurates new office in Buenos Aires
The brand-new office is located in a corporate, modern and technologically advanced building. Most of Vestas’ customers operating in Argentina, energy regulating bodies and the main financial entities in the country are based in this area.
Vestas has been operating in Argentina since 1992 and is currently installing the largest wind farm in the country, Rawson I & II Wind Farm in Chubut, which has been inaugurated on the same day by the President of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, in an official ceremony taking place on-site. At its completion, this power plant will have an estimated annual production of 320 GWh corresponding to the annual residential electricity consumption of approx 150,000 households in the country.
Together with the already existing Vestas’ set-up in Chile and Brazil, the new office in Buenos Aires will strengthen the development of new wind power business opportunities in Argentina as well as in the South American region. Already now Argentina is planning another 754 MW of wind power in the coming years.
Marcelo Tokman Ramos, Vice President South America (excluding Brazil) and Head of Government Relations in Latin America, who will lead this new sales unit, declared:
“This is a clear evidence of Vestas’ continuous commitment to Argentina and to the promotion of wind power in the country and the region. We are very proud to be the pioneers in the development of this industry and to take the responsibility of providing the best technology and building the largest wind power plant in Argentina."
He concluded: “The Vestas’ team in our new office in Puerto Madero is highly committed to continue delivering business case certainty to our customers and key stakeholders in the country.”
Local authorities, customers, developers and media were some of the attendees to the inauguration of the new office. After the official ribbon cutting ceremony, all attendants joined a celebration event hosted by Vestas.
The new Vestas’ office in Buenos Aires is located in Lola Mora 421, 12° Floor, Puerto Madero, in a very well-communicated area relatively close to the airport, facilitating domestic and international business connections.
