Molins de Vent TARRAGÓ: Windmills in the Erz Mountains

Montblanc, 26.09.2011. „Glückauf!“ says the windmill TARRAGÓ operated by “Landfarm pro agrar” and installed in the core of the Erz Mountains in Germany, i.a., between Schwarzenberg and Annalberg- Buchholz and only 30 km far away from the Czech Republic. The windmill contributes to reduce the energy consumption through pumping water to a land of around 1000 ha, supplying water to about 500 milk cows, more than 400 rinds and above 10 horses of the race „heavy warm blood“, which are good for coaches as well as for riding.

This mountain region, which application to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage list is planned to be submitted on 1st February 2013, chooses environmentally friendly windmills for the exploitation of the pink bull business. Traditional, as the autochthons used to do a hundred years ago, is the way of dealing with the nature and farm animals. The operation of the windmill can be observed whilst being carried in a carriage of four horses or whilst milking cows or by hiking, by cycling or by riding a horse.

pro agrar accommodates in an insulated hall more than 300 guest each time when busses travel to the Erz Mountains to see, amount others, the Fichtelberg mountain (1215 m) or the Markersbach, one of the Europe largest pump storage power plants. The average yearly temperatures are only in-between 3 to 5ºC. Nevertheless, the windmill TARRAGÓ operates since 2005 successfully and with a low rate of maintenance.
