This week: Interview with Aaron Sabino, Product Manager, Automated Precision Inc.
Windfair: Is the Wind Energy Industry a priority for your company? How so?
Aaron Sabino: Yes, wind energy is a critical area of priority for API. As wind continues to increase in use in regions such as North America, Europe and China, API has increased in its products and technology. We are involved in measuring and inspecting turbine blades, the gears and bearings themselves.
Windfair: How many employees does your company have? How many dedicated to Wind Energy?
Aaron Sabino: API has more than 250 employees worldwide, many of whom work on energy-related projects. Because API addresses multiple applications and markets, our experts apply solutions to the wind market that may have been developed for others. In this way, the entire company has expertise that can be used for the advancement of wind energy.
Windfair: Do you have any new or upcoming Wind Energy Products or Services?
Aaron Sabino: Yes, on July 25, we will be unveiling a new product that can be used in measuring and inspecting parts for wind energy. Please go to www.apisensor.com on that day. In addition, our RapidScan technolgy has applications the wind energy product sector would find beneficial.
Windfair: Do you have any special training programs for your employees?
Aaron Sabino: Our top flight engineers, applications engineers and regional managers constantly are updating their knowledge about the dozens of industries that API is involved in. One of the best 'training programs' is our hands-on involvement with our customers and their applications. We are as involved with our customers‘ applications as are they.
Windfair: Tell us about your future developments. What can we expect in the next year or two?
Aaron Sabino: Besides new products, you will see API drive technology that best integrates all aspects of the production procees—from design through manufacture to final assembly and inspection. That is the approach that API has had in all its markets and one that has proven successful. You will also see increased globalization of the industry and as a global company, API will be able to work with companies on that scale.
