Spain - Wind energy Gamesa supply 70 MW to two wind farm plants in Salamanca

Gamesa will install the newly-contracted 35 G90-2.0 MW wind turbines in 2011. The related O&M wind power agreement covers a five-year period

Gamesa, a leading global provider of wind power technology and an international benchmark in the development and sale of wind farms, has been hired to supply, transport, install and commission wind turbines with total capacity of 70 MW at two wind farms located in Salamanca (Spain), owned by Cobra Energía.

Gamesa will supply 35 G90-2.0 MW turbines to the Banderelas (36 MW) and Rodera Alta (34 MW) wind farms located in the towns of Santiz, Palacios de Arzobispo and Zamayón. The turbines are slated for delivery during the third quarter of 2011 and the wind farms will be commissioned at the end of this year.

The agreement also contemplates O&M services, to be provided by Gamesa at both facilities for five years. Gamesa will control, supervise and monitor the wind farm's operation management using its WindNet® system. This expanded information tool for remote control and with web access optimizes wind farm operation and contributes to boost wind turbines output and availability.

Over 2,500 MW of wind farm capacity installed and 400 MW developed in Castile and León

Gamesa boasts a significant footprint in the Castile and León region in its capacity as wind turbine manufacturer and wind farm developer.

The company provides jobs to over 500 professionals in the region and has five production centres, specifically in Lerma, Burgos and Miranda (Burgos), Ágreda (Soria) and Medina del Campo (Valladolid), as well as a Regional Operating Centre.

In Castile and León, Gamesa has installed more than 2,500 MW of turbines. In its capacity as wind farm developer, the company has developed, built and commissioned 15 wind farms in the region, with aggregate capacity of close to 400 MW. At present, the company's wind farm pipeline in the region, at various stages of development, totals 500 MW. In Salamanca alone, Gamesa's current pipeline stands at 116 MW.
