Vestas American Wind Technology, Inc.: Vestas enters into agreements to supply turbines and services to Greengate Power for Canada's largest wind energy project
Portland, June 10, 2011. Vestas-Canadian Wind Technology, Inc. has entered into turbine supply and long-term service and maintenance agreements with Greengate Power Corporation ("Greengate"). Under the terms of the agreements, Vestas will supply 166 of its V90-1.8 MW wind turbines for the 300 MW Blackspring Ridge I Wind Project ("Blackspring Ridge I"), which is anticipated to be Canada's largest operating wind energy project once it is complete. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2012.
Today's announcement confirms a release issued on June 9, 2011, by Greengate, which provides more details about the project. It also follows a statement issued on June 9, 2011, by Vestas Wind Systems A/S, parent company to Vestas-Canadian Wind Technology Inc., which unfortunately incorrectly referenced Vestas' relationship with Greengate in the form of ongoing negotiations.
The agreement between Vestas and Greengate is currently a conditional order. Once the order is firm and unconditional, Vestas will make a separate company announcement.
"We are extremely pleased to provide turbines and services for this impressive project," said Martha Wyrsch, president of Vestas Canadian-Wind Technology, Inc. "Greengate is an outstanding wind energy project developer with a solid reputation, and when it is finished, Blackspring Ridge I will be extremely beneficial for all of Alberta."
Pursuant to the terms of the long-term service and maintenance agreements, Vestas will also supply 10 years of service and maintenance for Blackspring Ridge I.
