Installation of 45 MW wind farms in Pakistan allowed
The Alternative Energy Development Board has allowed New Park Energy Limited with the Consortium of the General Electric (Wind Energy) Germany, Dorsch Consult Germany and Albario Engineering limited to install 45 mega watt Wind Farms as first phase of a 400 mega watt Wind Farm Project at Karachi, Pakistan.
After the start of production, the electricity will be supplied to the Karachi Electricity Supply Company for distribution and consumption. This was decided in a meeting held in the office of AEDB under the chairmanship of AEDB chairman Air Marshal (Retd) Shahid Hamid. The representatives of the consortium told the meeting that the Consortium had a 125 years Global experience with over 20 years in Wind Energy Technology. Saeed Akhtar, the Chief Executive of the New Park Energy Limited, said Pakistan was facing an energy crisis at the moment. He said the Consortium proposed to produce electricity through wind to overcome the challenge.
He said the proposal is based on investment of over 400 million dollars and under the project, 400 mega watts would be generated in phases of 45 mega watts. He said the AEDB agreed with the proposal after long deliberations and it allowed the Consortium to install its farms near Karachi in this regard. Saeed Akhtar told the meeting that the project was an important milestone in the growth, uplift and prosperity of the future generations of Pakistan.
