Wind Industry Profile of

TWK-ELEKTRONIK GmbH: Electronic switching cam encoders with absolute position detection

The new NOCA model series electronic switching cam encoders with analogue output signal and NOCN with CANopen output signal have been developed to detect the gondola position or the rotor blade position. In addition to precise position data (rotary encoder function), they also additionally provide several parameterisable switching outputs which enable e.g. limit switch functions to be implemented (switching cam function). The robust devices are equipped with an electromagnetic sensor system based on the Hall principle. The resolution per revolution is 4096 steps (12-bit). The measuring range is up to 4096 revolutions. The position signal can be output in analogue form, e.g. 4 ... 20 mA, or via CANopen. The Hall sensor system also electronically controls the switching outputs, which are implemented using relays with a long service life. The switching outputs and the absolute position signal can be parameterised independently of each other. The switching positions can be set arbitrarily with regard to the shaft position. In the case of the analogue version, this is carried out using a teach-in function via PINs in the connector. If necessary, the hand programming device PMA-NOC is available for this purpose. In the CANopen version, parameterisation is carried out via corresponding CANopen profile objects (CiA DS 406, V 3.0). One potential-free, galvanically separated changeover contact is available to the user per switching output (a maximum of 4).
The bootloader functionality enables the firmware to be updated at the customer's premises.
