USA - US company to build wind energy plant in Pakistan
A 150 megawatt (MW) wind power project will be setup by an American power firm, AES, at Gharo, in Sindh province for which the Water and Power Ministry and United States Agency for International Development (USIAD) have jointly arranged funding and equity, reveals official correspondence between the two, released here yesterday.
The official document is, however, mysteriously silent over the cost of the wind farm and its source of funding while it enlists the other details of the project such as Project Development Agreement.
The wind farm is to be developed by AES in line with its other development efforts in Pakistan and elsewhere. It will be led by the Project Director and his team of 2-3 people in Pakistan. The project will draw heavily on AES’s resources and experience in the sector and will have assistance of AES team based in San Diego, California. The USAID has also submitted outlines of a tentative work plan with financial close on Mar 14, 2012, said the document.
