Swiss investor acquires German wind farm from WKN Windkraft Nord AG
WKN Windkraft Nord AG, a fully-owned subsidiary of the BGZ-Group, has sold its wind farm “Luebbenau” in Brandenburg (East Germany) with a total capacity of 16 megawatts to the Swiss energy group Repower.
Construction of the eight Vestas V90 / 2.0 megawatt turbines, with a hub height of 105 metres each, has already been completed. The turbines were commissioned in May 2010. In spite of the exceptionally long German winter the planned period of construction has been fully met. Luebbenau is located about 25 kilometres to the west of the East German city of Cottbus. The wind farm has been connected to the public grid via a 4.4 kilometre long cable line and a transformer station situated on a former coal mine. The annual energy production is estimated to be about 40 GWh. The wind farm therefore supplies some 8,000 households with environmentally friendly electricity.
Repower is an internationally operating company group with its headquarters in Switzerland. Wind farm Luebbenau will now extend the own production capacities of the investor. “We have cooperated with Repower for the first time and are quite delighted to consign our wind farm to a competent energy provider”, states Michael Ostwald, Chief Financial Officer of WKN Windkraft Nord AG.
