Offshore Windpower 2010 - Creating a roadmap for commercially successful offshore wind projects
INTRODUCTION:
Global offshore wind capacity has now reached 1.5GW with another 1.5GW under construction. In the US, the MMS has been receiving lease applications for offshore wind farms since June 2009. With the North American regulatory environment now supporting the development of offshore wind, the market looks set for rapid growth.
Offshore Wind Power will address the key issues faced by the North American market in deploying offshore wind farms. This event will enable you to connect with leading developers, policy makers, utilities and market experts, to examine the challenges that need to be overcome and create a roadmap for the successful deployment of offshore wind farms.
ATTEND THIS EVENT AND YOU WILL:
• Have an opportunity to meet representatives from the MMS and question them on leasing, application and siting;
• Learn from developers’ experiences from the first offshore projects in the US and from the successful Horns Rev 2 farm in Europe. Find out what challenges they faced in deploying their
projects and how they were overcome;
• Examine the business case for offshore wind in North America;
• Find out what factors influence investor decisions in backing projects;
• Listen to the utilities and power providers’ perspective on offshore wind;
• Learn how to resolve opposition from local stakeholders;
• Understand the key challenges faced in transmission, interconnection and grid integration;
• Hear the latest innovations and advances in offshore turbine technology;
• Discover how to overcome infrastructure, installation and O&M issues for offshore;
• Be updated on data collection for wind resource assessments and meteorological and oceanographic characteristics for sites.
WHO WILL YOU MEET?
• Offshore wind farm owners/operators
• Wind project developers
• Wind power integrators and installers
• Wind technology developers and manufacturers
• Transmission system operators, planners, and reliability authorities
• Financiers and venture capitalists
• Maintenance and operations managers
