Uruguay - The Ministry of Industry and Energy published a listing of the registered wind sector performers
The Wind Energy program is a joint initiative between the government and the United Nations Development program. In the payroll appear the developers, investors, advisers and industrialists who participate or had entailment with the sector. The program is available in the Wind Energy Program website, www.energiaeolica.gub.uy. Its intention is to facilitate the contact between the different performers, for that reason they also included investing nationals and foreigners.
The listing will be continually updated. The registry has the name of the company, its telephone and a brief explanation of its roll in the sector. It seeks to create favorable conditions and to stimulate the wind energy insertion process, with the aim of mitigating greenhouse gases.
The Program anticipates the incorporation of 300 MW of wind energy through 2015. In that frame, UTE bids a 150 MW contract to private companies. In September the wind map of Uruguay was introduced, instrument that allows knowing the annual average wind speed for all the country’s zones helping companies that are interested in this type of energy.
