Global Wind Day 15 June 2010
In 2009, the European Wind Day became the Global Wind Day, and it was a great success reaching tens of thousands of people all over the world.
EWEA, GWEC and many national wind energy associations worked hard to organise over 200 events and activities in 35 different countries, spreading Wind Day messages to around a million people and attracting huge press coverage. With wind farm open days, conferences, exhibitions, workshops, information days, regattas, sporting contests and theatre shows, there was something for everyone, everywhere.
We also launched a new website www.globalwindday.org with an event map, information on the campaign and communication tools.
EWEA and GWEC have started to work on Global Wind Day 2010 and warmly invite you to support us by joining in to organise events and publicise next year’s Global Wind Day.
Global Wind Day is on June 15, but you are welcome to hold events on the weekend of 12-13 June or even the following weekend if necessary.
In 2010, we aim to organise a big event in Brussels, as we did in 2007. We will inform you in more detail as soon as we have more information to share.
We will be providing you with banners, buttons, visuals, texts and other materials for you to translate, adapt and use on your own websites and publications well in advance of the big day. Feel free to let us know what would be most useful.
