Chile - The Canadian company Methanex to install a wind farm in Cabo Negro
This wind farm will be the first in the region and the third of its kind in Chile. Three wind turbines will be located in Cabo Negro, a few meters inside the Route 9 North. The project involves an investment of US$ 5 million.
It will have a capacity of 2.3 MW. The turbines, which are expected to be operational by mid next year, have a power close to 800 KW.
The Canadian company’s vice president for Latin America expressed their enthusiasm in this project, which introduces industrial wind energy in Magallanes; he said they are negotiating with other users to integrate them into this renewable energy, and that one of them is Enap, in Cabo Negro.
Also, they hope that the initiative can be extended to the electricity generation system of the city of Punta Arenas since it is technically designed with this capability.
