Dominican Republic - Negotiating to install another 600 MW wind power projects, with investments from the United Arab Emirates
The Dominican Republic is negotiating the installation of several wind farms in the country with foreign investments that will provide 600 MW to the national electrical system, said the chairman of the National Energy Commission (CNE) of that country and reported that construction will begin this year.
The estimated investment in relation to wind energy, is approximately U 720 million and the project includes two wind farms in Puerto Plata, Montecristi, and two in Azua.
The director of the National Renewable Energy Center of Spain, who also represents the investment fund of the Middle East country, is leading the delegation, which is preparing the documents for signing the agreement.
There are currently four wind projects in developing at this country, which are carried out through an investment fund of Spain. Two will be installed in Bani and two others in Montecristi.
The agreements to be signed include the construction in the country of a natural gas plant, which would generate 600 MW; and have carried out studies of land to establish a fleet of solar thermal power generation.
