REpower: New orders in France and the USA for a total of 88 Megawatt

* Les Hauts Pays project, Haute-Marne, France: 34 REpower MM92 turbines
* Echo project, Oregon, USA: supply of ten MM92s to new customer John Deere Renewables

Hamburg, 9 December 2008. REpower Systems AG (WKN 617 703) has signed contracts in France and the USA for the supply of 44 wind turbines. The REpower MM92 turbines, each with 2 megawatts (MW) rated power, are intended for wind farms in the North East of France and in the US State of Oregon.

The wind farm Les Hauts Pays in the French department of Haute-Marne will be operated by the French project developer Erelia Haute Marne, a subsidiary of the REpower client GDF SUEZ. The project is part of a framework agreement signed by REpower and Electrabel, also a subsidiary of GDF SUEZ, in 2007. A total of 23 MM92s, each with a hub height of 100 metres, will be installed for the sections Les Hauts Pays Centre and Sud by REpower Systems’ French subsidiary, REpower S.A.S. Les Hauts Pays Nord, another section of the wind farm project, will comprise 11 MM92s, each with a hub height of 80 metres, following completion of the project.

Jean-Pierre Gay, the interim Managing Director of REpower S.A.S., said: “We have already successfully completed several projects with Erelia and are looking forward to the new shared challenge. Together with our client, we have already begun cooperating with the grid operator Réseau de Transport d'Electricité (RTE) and carrying out simulations to enable us to fulfil the special network requirements of the site.” The turbines are scheduled to be supplied and erected in the first quarter of calendar year 2010.

The company has also received another order from the USA. REpower will supply ten MM92 turbines, each with a hub height of 78.5 metres, for the Echo wind farm in the US State of Oregon. The turbines are scheduled to be brought into operation next year by REpower’s US subsidiary REpower USA Corp. REpower’s customer is John Deere Renewables LLC, a financial services business of Deere & Company (NYSE: DE). Steve Dayney, Managing Director of REpower USA Corp, emphasized: "We are delighted to have John Deere Renewables as a partner, who, like REpower, stands for quality and reliability, and we hope to be able to extend this cooperation in future years."
