India - Wind-solar power project inaugurated
Minister Of Power, Science and Technology and Horticulture, Phungzathang Tonsing today inaugurated a Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Project installed at Kotlen on the NH 53 by the Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) with an objective of providing power supply to the people of the area.
Director of MANIREDA, Manglem informed the gathering that the Agency, in collabortion with the Centre for Wind Energy Technology, Chennai, took up a survey and found Kotlen and its surrounding areas bountiful in wind energy.
However, as wind is quite unpredictable, if it was to be turned into electrical power, another alternative energy was required.
Therefore energy from the sunlights is gathered and the Wind-Soar Hybrid Power Project was thus set up, Director Manglem said.
This will enable the people of the area to get electricity either from the wind when there is no sunlight or from sunlight when there is no wind.
Minister Phungzathang Tonsing was the chief guest, ex-Minister Ngamthang Haokip was the chief host and chairman of Manireda Pl Thanga was the president of the function.
