Vestas order for 44 wind turbines in the USA

Vestas has received an order for 44 wind turbines to be delivered to a wind power project in the USA. The order comprises the supply and commissioning of the turbines and a five-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2009 with commissioning planned for the second half of 2010.

At the customer's request, details about project ownership, exact location, etc. cannot be disclosed.

“The USA boasts excellent wind resources, and Vestas is pleased to be playing an active role in the utilisation of its wind potential. Not only will the 44 wind turbines be a source of clean and renewable energy, they will also contribute to the creation of new local jobs,” says Jens Søby, President of Vestas Americas A/S.

In 2007, over 5,200 MW of new wind generating capacity was put in place in the USA, representing a growth of 45 per cent on the previous year. In the first quarter of 2008, a total of 1,400 MW of new wind power capacity worth approximately USD 3bn was installed according to the American Wind Energy Association.

The above order does not affect Vestas' expectations for 2008 cf. company announcement No. 25/2008 of 8 May 2008.
