Vestas has received an order for 10 units of its V90-3MW wind turbine for the Belen project located in the Hatay province of Turkey, from Belen Elektrik Uretim. The Belen project will be located along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, which is reportedly one of the windiest areas of Turkey. Belen Elektrik Uretim is a subsidiary of Guris Insaat ve Muhendislik, a construction company based in Turkey.
With an estimated annual production of approx 115GWh, the Belen wind power plant is expected to save the environment from more than 53,000 tons of CO2 and will be able to meet the electricity needs of more than 18,000 Turkish households.
Delivery is scheduled to start in the last quarter of 2008, and the project will be completed by the second quarter of 2009.
