Vestas receives order for 34 V90-3.0 MW wind turbines in Portugal
Vestas has received an order for 34 units of the V90-3.0 MW wind turbine for the Toutiço project, located in the district of Coimbra in the central part of Portugal. The order has been placed by Enersis SGPS, S.A., one of Europe's largest independent renewable energy companies. Enersis is owned by Babcock & Brown, a global investment and advisory firm with a number of focused investments in areas including real estate, renewable energy and infrastructure.
The contract consists of supply, installation, commissioning of the wind turbines, a VestasOnlineTM Business SCADA solution, as well as a five-year service agreement.
“We are very pleased that Enersis once again has chosen the V90-3.0 MW turbine for a new project in Portugal, which will be added to Enersis' existing fleet of 76 V90-3.0 MW turbines,” says Juan Araluce, President of Vestas Mediterranean A/S, and continues: “This will be the fourth V90-3.0 MW project that Vestas establishes with Enersis in Portugal.”
By the end of December 2007, Vestas had installed a total of 123 units of the V90-3.0 MW wind turbine in Portugal and had a cumulative installed wind capacity in the country of 498 MW.
The wind power plant is estimated to produce 264 GWh per year which will save the environment from approx 164,000 tons of CO2 emissions. Furthermore, the wind power plant will cover the yearly electricity consumption of approx 102,000 Portuguese households.
Delivery of the wind power plant is expected to start during the autumn of 2008 and will be completed during the autumn of 2009.
The above order does not affect the Vestas Group's expectations for 2008, cf. Company announcement No. 13/2008 of 27 February 2008.
Any questions in relation to this order may be addressed to Mr Juan Araluce, President of Vestas Mediterranean A/S, telephone +34 93 241 98 00, or to Mr Peter Wenzel Kruse, Senior Vice President of Group Communications at Vestas Wind Systems A/S, telephone +45 9730 0000.
