Voith Turbo Wind Among the Finalists for the "Innovation Prize in German Industry"

Based on its newly developed WinDrive technology, Voith Turbo Wind GmbH & Co. KG is a finalist being considered for the "Innovation Prize in German Industry". During the festivities held on January 19 at the "Alte Oper" (Old Opera House) in Frankfurt, the WinDrive was recognized as the most innovative drive system for wind power plants and selected as one of the 5 finalists from the original 269 contestants. Established at the beginning of 2007, Voith Turbo Wind GmbH & Co. KG submitted the WinDrive in the "Start-up Companies" category.

The "Innovation Prize in German Industry" has been in existence since 1980. It enjoys patent protection as the "First Innovation Prize in the World". The panel of experts, which includes among others Prof. Dr. Lothar Späth and Dr. Heinrich von Pierer, awards the prize each year to a company for its outstanding innovation. Only companies whose developments and products have demonstrated significant advances over current technology have an opportunity to win. The honor of being selected to the final 5 was presented to Dr. Andreas Basteck, CEO of Voith Turbo Wind GmbH & Co. KG and confirms the commitment and engagement of the entire Voith Group when it comes to innovation and new technologies.
