Wind Industry Profile of

REpower and Energiekontor sign agreement for Nordergründe offshore wind farm about 90 MW

Hamburg, 20 December 2007. Today, REpower Systems AG (WKN 617703) and Energiekontor AG have signed an agreement about the installation of 18 offshore wind energy turbines of the REpower 5M type – each with a rated power of five megawatts (MW) – for the German „Nordergründe“ offshore wind farm. The total rated power will hence be 90 MW. The offshore wind farm project is to be realised within the 12 sea mile zone at the river mouth of the Weser, north of Wilhelmshaven.

Nordergründe will thus be one of the first offshore projects to be realised in Germany and furthermore, the first bank-financed offshore project with 5 MW turbines in German waters.

The 18 turbines are to be manufactured in the new REpower assembly factory in Bremerhaven, the delivery is planned during the time period between April to June 2009. The offshore installation is scheduled to take place in the spring and summer of the same year. Nordergründe wind farm is expected to supply with current at the transformer station of Inhausen, situated north of Wilhelmshaven. The sea cable will have a length of 27 kilometres, whereas the cable on land will cover a length of approx. 3.7 kilometres.

The investment volume including foundation, offshore transformer station and cabling of the wind farm will comprise more than EUR 300 million.

REpower Systems AG is a leading manufacturer in the offshore wind energy area and has installed ten 5M onshore and offshore up to now. Moreover, the company is participating in further offshore projects such as the first German offshore wind farm Alpha Ventus (near Borkum island) and the Belgian Thornton Bank which will be erected in 2008/2009, delivering six turbines for each.

Energiekontor AG has hitherto installed and operated 65 wind farms in Germany and other European countries.
