California approves grant for renovations at the Port of Humboldt Bay

California is starting to prepare for the implementation of (floating) offshore wind.

State Approves $10.5 Million to Prepare the Port of Humboldt Bay for Offshore Wind

Today, the California Energy Commission (CEC) approved a $10.5 million grant for renovations at the Port of Humboldt Bay to support offshore wind activities in an area designated for development on the north coast. Once renovated, the new Humboldt Bay Offshore Wind Heavy Lift Marine Terminal will be capable of handling large heavy cargo vessels, offshore wind floating platform development and integration and decommissioning, and other maritime activities.

Investing in offshore wind port infrastructure is critical to opening the opportunity for offshore wind development in California, which is home to some of the best offshore wind resources in the world.
