Cadeler to install wind turbines at German offshore wind farms

Project developer Ørsted chose Danish company Cadeler to install wind turbines at the two German offshore wind farms Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3.

The contract includes the transport and installation of at least 48 11MW turbines to be installed adjacent to Ørsted's existing offshore wind farms Borkum Riffgrund 1 and Borkum Riffgrund 2, and near Gode Wind 1 and 2.

Cadeler will use its installation vessel Wind Osprey, which will be equipped with a new and improved main crane. Cadeler will replace and upgrade both main cranes on its two O-Class vessels, making them suitable for this and similar projects.

Cadeler’s CEO, Mikkel Gleerup said: “We are very pleased to partner with Ørsted on this project and to be awarded the preferred supplier status, as it demonstrates the competitiveness of our upgraded O-class vessels”.

Once completed, the Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 wind farms will have a combined total capacity of more than 1 GW. The projects are scheduled to be fully commissioned in 2024 and 2025 respectively, subject to Ørsted's final investment decision.
