Vestas receives 70 MW US order for delivery in 2008

The Vestas Group has received a US order for 39 units of V80-1.8 MW wind turbines to be delivered in the first quarter of 2008 for the second phase of the Marengo project in the state of Washington.

The order has been placed by PacifiCorp, one of the western part of USA’s leading electric utilities, serving more than 1.6 million customers in six western US states. PacifiCorp has more than 10,400 MW of generation capacity from coal, hydro, renewable wind power, gasfired combustion turbines, geothermal and solar. PacifiCorp operates as Pacific Power in Oregon, Washington and California; and as Rocky Mountain Power in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. The company was acquired by MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company in 2006.

Vestas will supply and commission the 39 V80-1.8 MW wind turbines, and the order also includes a four-year maintenance and service agreement. The first phase of the Marengo project was purchased by PacifiCorp in October 2006 and is scheduled for commercial operation in August 2007. The second phase of the project will be located on adjacent land, with construction scheduled to begin in the spring of 2008.

“Vestas is delighted to have been selected again by PacifiCorp as a key supplier in the further addition of wind energy to their generation portfolio,” says Jens Søby, President of Vestas Americas A/S and continues, “Vestas is also pleased with the opportunity to continue its relationship with PacifiCorp for the second phase of the Marengo project.”

The above order does not affect the Vestas Group’s expectations for 2007, cf. Stock exchange announcement No. 6/2007 of 20 March 2007.
