6th World Wind Energy Conference & Exhibition WWEC 2007 launched in Buenos Aires
Deadline for submission of abstracts: 30 April
Buenos Aires/Bonn (WWEA) – The 6th World Wind Energy Conference & Exhibition 2007 (WWEC 2007) was officially launched in Buenos Aires last week in the presence of Ms Silvia Suárez Arocena, Secretary for the Environment of the Province of Buenos Aires, Ms Florencia Roitstein, Undersecretary of the Argentine Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainable Development, Prof. Erico Spinadel, President of the Argentine Wind Energy Association AAEE and WWEA Vice President, and Mr Stefan Gsänger, Secretary General of WWEA.
The launch of WWEC 2007 took place in the Sheraton Hotel in Buenos Aires and was attended by 150 representatives from governments, foreign embassies, industry, media and science. Indexport Messe Frankfurt as the partner in organising the WWEC 2007 was represented by its President and CEO Mr Fernando Gorbarán.
Both Ms Suárez as well as Ms Roitstein underlined the willingness of their governments to substantially support the WWEC 2007 which will have an important role in boosting the utilisation of wind energy in Argentina and in the whole Latin American region. The WWEC 2007 will be the first international wind energy event ever held in Latin America. So far, governments and companies from all over the world have announced their active participation in WWEC 2007. The organisers expect more than 600 delegates from 50 countries.
Stefan Gsänger, WWEA Secretary General: “The response which we have got on the WWEC 2007 in Argentina so far has been overwhelming, especially from Argentina and the Latin American region. Argentina has one of the biggest wind resources worldwide and the WWEC 2007 will contribute that these inexhaustible potentials can be turned into utilised energy sources – from which the whole region will benefit economically, socially and environmentally.”
The WWEC 2007 will be chaired by WWEA President Dr Anil Kane, Prof. Erico Spinadel and Mr Brent Kopperson, Chairman of the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association, Canada. The WWEC 2007 programme will be put together under the guidance of the WWEC 2007 Programme Chairpersons Prof. Laura Giumelli, Argentina, Prof. Dieter Holm, South Africa, Prof. Niels I. Meyer, Denmark, and Prof. Shi Pengfei, China. The International Scientific Review Committee comprising more than 30 leading international wind energy experts will ensure that the conference programme will comprise high-quality papers and state of the art presentations on all relevant wind energy aspects. The organisers have therefore invited all wind energy actors worldwide to submit abstracts for presentation at the WWEC 2007 until the official deadline on 30 April.
