Denmark Continues to Lead
Wind power accounted for 47% of Danish electricity production in 2019, according to grid operator Energinet, citing preliminary data. In 2018 the share was still 41%. The previous record was 43% and was reached in 2017.
The higher share of wind energy in Denmark last year is partly due to the fact that Vattenfall commissioned Horns Rev 3, another offshore wind farm in the North Sea, in August. The share of electricity from offshore wind power rose from 14% to 18% last year, while onshore wind accounted for 29%.
