REpower supplies ten MM82 for Japanese wind farm

Hamburg, 26 February 2007. The REpower Systems AG (WKN 617703) has signed a contract for the delivery of ten wind turbines of the MM82 type (height: 80 metres, rotor diameter 82 metres, 60 Hz) to the Japanese prefecture Hyogo on the island of Honshu. Thus, REpower will be installing a whole wind farm consisting of MM82 turbines in Japan for the first time. In addition, there is an option on two further turbines. Project developer is Kanden Energy Development, the client the Kajima Corporation, one of the biggest building companies worldwide, headquartered in Tokyo and with around 11,000 employees.

The ten MM82 nacelles will be manufactured in Germany and shipped to Japan. The towers will be fabricated according to guidelines in Korea, supervised by REpower’s Japanese sales partner Meidensha Corporation (MEIDEN). The towers will also be transported by ship to Japan afterwards. The beginning of the installation is scheduled for the end of this year, completion is planned for the first half-year of 2008. Together with MEIDEN, 43 turbines – primarily of the MD series – with a total output of 65.5 MW have been installed up to now.

With the erection of the Hyogo wind farm, the sales partnership with MEIDEN, existing since 2003, will be continued.
