Belarus Collects Money for Wind Farm
The wind farm with a capacity of 25 MW is to be built in the Vitebsk region. It will be financed by Guris Construction and Engineering, a Turkish construction company specialising in energy plants, Emerging Europe reports.
“Thanks to this project, Belarus will attract direct investment in the green economy and renewable energy sources. Wind farms will help reduce pollution and improve the quality of life for local residents,” said Belarusian deputy natural resources and environmental protection minister Aleksander Korbut.
Renewable energies are not yet very widespread in Belarus and currently account for 6.2 percent of the country's electricity production.
