Ramius Capital Group and GermanCapital join forces with additional investors to boost renergys group capital base
Munich, 29 September 2006. Ramius Capital Group and GermanCapital have joined forces with financial investors Morgan Stanley and Milan-based Sopaf to take over renergys GmbH from venture fund GermanIncubator and another group of investors in a transaction that was completed on September 28th. As part of the transaction, the investors will provide additional funds for the expansion of the German wind farm specialist.
“The company’s previous owners have actively managed their investment to create a solid basis for healthy growth at renergys over the past few years”, explained Armin Weiland, a partner at GermanCapital. “We look forward to working together with our partners to further expand the existing project portfolio and to make targeted investments in new IPPs (independent power producers). As a financially stronginvestor group with the relevant industry and capital market expertise, we want to help the company achieve its strong growth potential”, added Weiland.
renergys group offers comprehensive regenerative energy solutions with a current focus on wind energy. Its services include project management, as well as the development, construction and operation of wind farms. The group owns and operates one of Germany’s largest contiguous wind farms, with an output capacity of over 76 MW, in the town of Dahme in Brandenburg. The investor group, led by Ramius Capital Group and GermanCapital, plans to considerably expand the capacity generated by renergys-owned sites.
“We believe that there are currently many interesting projects on the European market that match our focus”, said Markus Lesser, Managing Director of renergys GmbH. “This financing boost will allow us now to systematically implement our international strategy”, added Ernst Kauder, also a member of the management of the wind energy specialist.
