Wind Industry Profile of
First Turbine up at Zinkgruvan Wind Farm
The wind farm is located approximately 70 km north of Linköping, near the northern end of the Vättern Lake. The Zinkgruvan project will have a capacity of 53.2 MW and will supply approximately 40.000 Swedish households with fossil-free energy.
Now the first of 14 GE Renewables turbines with a capacity of 3.8 MW, a rotor size of 137 meters and a hub height of 110 meters was erected on location.
Thorvald Spanggaard, Project Director at European Energy, commented that occasion: "GE Renewables has worked very well on the project and so have our other contractors. That has allowed us to pass the milestone of erecting the first turbine within time and budget. Now we have to use the positive momentum for the erection of the next 13 turbines and the commissioning phase.”
