The highest wind energy converter worldwide! Windfarm Laasow, Brandenbourg 1 x FL 2500 / 2,5 MW on 160 m lattice tower

A joint project of Fuhrländer AG / SeeBA GmbH / W2E GmbH

1. Site and Turbine

Laasow is situated about 16 km west of Cottbus, about 7 km south of Vetschau and about 4 km south of the motorway A15 from Berlin to Cottbus. The construction site is situated about 1,4 km south of the village of Laasow. This is where the highest wind energy converter worldwide will be erected: a 2,5 MW FL 2500 on a 160 m lattice tower. The complete structure will reach an overall height of 205 m, a height never reached before.

2. Permits and Commissioning

The building permit was granted on March 1st, 2005 and the erection and commissioning is scheduled for late August / early September 2006.

3. Net connection

The net connection will be put into the net of enviaM. The connection point is at a distance of about 3,5 km. The feed-in will be on the 20 kV level.

4. Wind yield

In order to estimate the wind yield, three wind surveys were ordered. They show an average wind speed of 7,1 – 7,2 m/s. The estimated output amounts to about 7.200.000 kWh/a, this corresponds to the consumption of 1,800 4-person households.

5. Delivery / Operation

This highest wind energy converter worldwide is a joint project of the Fuhrländer AG, SeeBA GmbH and W2E GmbH companies. W2E developed and engineered this new 2,5 MW turbine which is built under licence and marketed by Fuhrländer AG. SeeBA built the highest lattice tower worldwide for this turbine with a hub height of 160 m.
