Wind Energy in Russia Gears Up
According to the Russian Association of Windpower Industry (RAWI), Vestas has started to deliver first components for the second Russian wind farm in the Ulyanovsk region. The wind farm with a capacity of 50 MW will consist of 14 turbines V126 with a capacity of 3.6 MW each.
Vestas tries to build as many components as possible locally in Russia to start a wind industry branch there. The Danish manufacturer has already constructed gondolas in Nizhny Novgorod and is currently building a blade factory in the same area starting production later this year. Another factory to produce towers for wind turbines will be constructed in Taganrog at the “Krasny Kotelshchik” plant, according to RAWI.
