Wind Industry Profile of
Renewables Are Coming to Town!
There's not much going on in Prairie, Queensland. Life in the small village with its almost 100 inhabitants is quiet and tranquil. No wonder, with the provincial capital of Queensland, Brisbane, in a distance of more than 1,500 kilometres. Even Townshill, the cultural centre of northern Queensland, is over 300 kilometres away.
Besides a motel and a cafe there isn't much to see. Only the highway leading through the village provides for alternation occasionally like recently when large Vestas trucks made a stopover on their way to the Kennedy Energy Park.
They were loaded with massive rotor blades for the wind farm, which will generate electricity there, together with a solar park and several storage facilities. More than 100 people gathered in Prairie and took a closer look at the rotor blades, including the children of the local school, as Vestas presented on its Twitter account.
